I mostly do research related to former ice sheets and their deposits. This has applications for understanding past environments, groundwater resources and mineral exploration in glaciated regions. Ongoing research projects (including undergraduate research projects with students) include: outburst floods from the former Cordilleran Ice Sheet and linkages to the Channeled Scablands in Washington State, USA; mapping of eskers and other glacial landforms in the Canadian arctic to better understand deglaciation of the Laurentide Ice Sheet and improve mineral exploration.
