What: Drag in the Theatre
When: Wednesday, October 4, 8 to 10 pm
Where: VIU’s Malaspina Theatre (Building 310), Nanaimo campus
Experience a fabulous night of drag, live vocals and jaw-dropping performances during Drag in the Theatre.
The show is presented by Vancouver Island University’s (VIU’s) Positive Space Alliance and Vancouver-based drag queen and VIU alum Darrian Tolerance, Host, Performer and Producer.
“I am so excited to be back for another year doing this event in collaboration with the VIU Positive Space Alliance. I have put together a cast of performers that are sure to bring the house down with their makeup and drag as well as live singing,” said Darrian Tolerance. “My main goal after last year was to have another night of inclusivity and queer expression but upgrade our size from the lobby into the main stage of the Malaspina Theatre and this year it became a reality!”
The show is on October 4, from 8 to 10 pm at VIU’s Malaspina Theatre (Building 310) at the Nanaimo campus. Other performers include Buwa, Joshua Holloway, Robin Wood, Leo Moon, Andi Rogynous, Sylvester Stalletto and the VIU Dance Team. Members of the VIU Satyr Players will join the performers for the closing number.
“I think in terms of capacity this is the biggest drag show that Nanaimo has ever seen, and tickets are selling super-fast just like last year,” said Darrian Tolerance. “This is an event you do not want to miss!”
The Positive Space Alliance will have information booths and a concession stand in the lobby. Snack and drink proceeds go toward the alliance.
The event is PG-13 plus. Lobby doors open at 7 pm and the show begins at 8 pm. Tickets are $11.98 on Eventbrite or $10 at the door. More details are available on Tolerance’s Instagram.
