Using the endangered coastal western screech-owl as an example, Jeremiah Kennedy explored some of the more misunderstood and endangered ecosystems in BC in relation to a warming climate during his VIU Science and Technology Community Lecture on April 6.
Kennedy, along with Toby St. Clair, is a co‐founder of the Pacific Megascops Research Alliance and a biologist, ecologist and naturalist based in Nanoose, BC. Much of his recent work has focused on bioacoustic method development, behavioural ecology and open-sourcing acoustic ecology through his Master of Science at the University of Alberta. He is currently working as an environmental consultant through Hemmera, an Ausenco Company, and on standardizing and expanding nocturnal research across BC.

The VIU Science and Technology Community Lecture Series is an opportunity for scientists to engage the broader VIU faculty, students and community in ongoing research and science initiatives that are occurring in our regional and local coastal communities.
